Erin,
Thanks for posting those pictures and the tribute to your grandfather. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
That one picture of (I assume) your grandparents walking the city streets reminds me very much of a similar picture my grandmother has of my grandparents walking the streets of downtown Nashville in the 1940s. My grandfather is carrying my mom in the picture. My grandmother tells me that everyone would always dress up like that whenever they went downtown.
